Found some really great tips to get my airline back to where it was. Anyway, I got a new Mac and I am dying to get a download for the app that has since been taken off the Mac app store. Sim games are all the rage and there are games that provide simulations of running cities, train networks, planes, and much more besides. Pocket Planes, as you may have guessed from the name, places you in charge of a fleet of planes which you can use to transport goods and passenger all over the world. There’s a real sense of progression as you upgrade from tiny planes to jumbos and gain the ability to access larger and larger airports.

This is a great game for statistic fans. There are leader boards aplenty so you can see how your fleet compares to those of your friends as well as the rest of the world. You can customize your fleet of planes with personalized paint jobs and revel in a game that harks back to the days of 8-bit gaming console with it very retro look and basic yet addictive style of gameplay.

Despite the fact that there are two different versions of the app available iOS and OS X, the two are identical. This does not mean that iOS users are getting a great port of a stunning looking OS X game, rather that OS X users have to make do with an exact replica of an iOS title that feature 8-bit style graphics and an unoptimized aspect ratio.

This does not necessarily detract from the game, but it’s a shame that the developer has not taken the rouble to make platform specific releases. On the positive side in this regards, however, it is possible to synchronize your games between devices so you can play on your iPhone or iPad when you are out and about and then pick up from where you left off when you get home to your Mac.

Verdict:

Pocket Planes Windows

A great, addictive little sim game that will keep you entertained for hours.
